Meet the Doctor

Dr. Jim Chapman grew up in the small town of Lucasville, Ohio, where at the age of 15 he decided that he wanted to be an orthodontist. He knew it would be a long road, requiring lots of hard work, and the first step toward that goal was graduating as valedictorian of his high school class in 1990.

After a family move to Greenville, SC, it was off to Clemson University where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biological sciences in 1994. Next came four years of dental school at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. It was here that Dr. Chapman met his wife Jean, and obtained his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry in 1998. Finally, after a two-year orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Chapman realized his dream of becoming an orthodontist in 2000.

Dr. Chapman practiced for a short time in Virginia while his wife was finishing her medical residency. In the spring of 2002 he bought his current practice in Georgia, where he has been proudly serving his patients ever since. His wife is a cosmetic laser and vein specialist with her own practice, LaserMed Skin & Vein Clinic, located in Alpharetta/John’s Creek.

He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Georgia Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, and Northern District Dental Society.

Dr. Chapman and his Jean were married in 1998, the day after their graduation from dental and medical school. They had their first son, Andy, in January 2003 and their second, Alex, in February 2007.

In his spare time, Dr. Chapman enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, reading, cooking, shooting basketball, collecting old baseball cards, and eating ice cream!
